Sweden: Sophie Schmidt signs with Kristianstads DFF

Kristianstads DFF will announce today their new signing for the season.

The Canadian midfielder Sophie Schmidt will be signing a short contract with the club till the end of May.

The Icelandic player Gudny Odinsdottir and the U.S. player Becky Edwards both suffer from injuries and will be out for a long time so the club has decided to sign a midfielder till Becky is back in training again.

Sophie Schmidt graduated from University of Portland in 2010 and played with MagicJack last year in the WPS. There she played with Johanna Rasmussen who is currently playing for KDFF.

Sophie is born 1988 and has 70 caps with the Canadian national team. She played in the friendly game against Sweden where they lost 3-1 and she scored the goal for the Canadian team.
